IR transmitter and Receiver are commonly used in devices which can be controlled with the help of remote. TV remotes are the best example for IR transmitters. IR Led emits infrared rays which cannot be seen with normal open eyes as its wavelength is very low (700nm – 1mm) as compared to visible light. The transmitted light then can be detected with a receiver. There’s a very cool trick if you want to observe IR lights. Although our eyes can’t see them, cameras of many mobile phones can. All you have to do is open the camera, and then light up the IR light, you can use a TV or AC’s remote for that. And then, you shall be able to see how it lights up on button press.
